Filter Housing Leak Repair in Derrick City, PA

Filter Housing Leak Repair in Derrick City, PA

A dripping filter housing rarely fixes itself. Most leaks get worse, and a cracked sump can split open under line pressure. Derrick City, PA Whole House Water Filtration repairs filter housing leaks in Derrick City, PA homes and gets the system back in service.

The usual causes we find:

• A dry, pinched or flattened O-ring at the sump threads
• Hairline cracks in older plastic sumps, often near the threads
• Overtightened fittings that cracked the housing head
• Thread tape on the sump seal, where it does not belong
• Water hammer from fast-closing valves stressing the housing

We close the valves, open the bypass if one is installed, and inspect the head, sump and fittings. Many leaks need only a new O-ring and a proper hand-tight fit. A cracked or sun-faded housing gets replaced. If there is no bypass, we can add one so the next service does not require shutting off water to the whole house.

Also check the date on your housing if you can find it. Plastic sumps do age, and housings past ten years are worth replacing before they fail.
